Hand, Foot and Mouth

You turned 14 months last week, but I am just now getting to posting because it has been an impossible week.  You came down with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease and it is the worst thing ever!  The blisters started in your mouth and are now all over your hands, feet, and bottom.  You are miserable, and haven't slept longer than 2 hours in the past 4 days.  You won't eat, and I can barely get you to sip water. It is a virus so there is nothing I can give to you to make it go away.  The benadryl mixed with Maalox has helped coat the back of your throat and relieve some pain.  Nothing really helps...you scream ALL day and ALL night.  Mommy and Daddy are exhausted, but can't be mad at you because you are so miserable!
On a more positive note, you have grown a lot last month!  You now weigh 22 lbs and are RUNNING everywhere!  You are into everything and love to open and close doors and cupboards.  You have had an ear infection since you got your tubes, so that is good news.  You have learned how to scream and scream the loudest scream I have ever heard all day long!  You scream and it makes everyone jump.  It's almost impossible to take you out in public because you are so loud.  You are definitely my first screamer! You are very independent and want to be left alone to wander and explore as much as you want.  You hate being held, and will never hold our hand.  You know what you want and you get it.  You are also a charmer and a cutie pie and love to socialize and smile at everyone.

Tea Party

A dear friend of my mom and I's (Karen Lopez) gave the girls these adorable Peter Cottontail glass tea sets for Easter. Taylor was so excited, and when we got home we had a tea party! I started speaking like a proper English woman and Taylor gave me a confused look and said, "Why are you talking Mexican!?" It was hilarious! I explained my accent to her and then she thought it was fun to join in. She loved calling me "Madame".

Easter

Underwood Farms

Strawberries were in season, so we headed out to Underwood Farms! The kids love this place and they just run around and play for hours. We also went out into the field to pick strawberries, and they were ripe and delicious! Cameron loved eating them , and devoured the whole thing (even the stem!).

San Diego

We drove down to CA for Spring Break and headed straight to San Diego! My Mom came up to UT a couple days earlier, so we caravanned down together and my aunt Marilyn joined us. We met Marci and Julio's family down there and went to Sea World. The kids absolutely loved it, and Cameron is the perfect age for it. It's so much easier to take a toddler to Sea World than Disneyland! He love to explore and loved the aquariums. He especially loved Shamu's tank, where he could walk right up to the glass. It was precious to watch him watch the whales-and he could have stood there forever! The kids had a blast and Chad finally talked Katelyn into riding the water ride at the end of the day. Taylor is fearless and always up for an adventure so she begged and cried to go. She wasn't tall enough, but I told Chad to try and see if she could get on anyway. Well, she got on...and I have never seen a girl more excited!

Tubes

Cameron has had 8 ear infections in his first year of life, and was on antibiotics once a month. I couldn't take it anymore, and we decided to get tubes in his ear. Although it was a simple outpatient procedure, it's never fun to see your child in a hospital gown. He had a really hard time coming out of anesthesia, and screamed uncontrollably for about 30 min. But so far we are glad we did it, and hopefully he has no more ear infections.

Flip Curl

Taylor is a girl who knows what she wants and how she wants to look. Everyday she insists on picking out her outfits and has to have an accessory to match! She also knows exactly how she wants me to do her hair...it's cute sometimes, but's also really annoying because sometimes I don't have the time or desire to do what she wants. This particular morning she wanted her "hair straight with a flip curl." She is always begging me to straighten her hair, and I am trying to get her to embrace her curls. Anyway, this morning I had a little extra time to straighten and flip curl her hair. Then she put the hat on top and said, "Take a picture and send it to Marci!" She has this girls bond with Marci and knows that Marci will appreciate her efforts to look cute and will give her the best compliments!
