I never thought this day would come! (I think I have said that before!) Katelyn can now ride a bike! We have been trying for 2 years, and every attempt ended in tears, meltdowns and screaming "I give up! I will never ride a bike!" She was born with my impatience and frustration with learning new things. She was the same way with swimming-I never thought she would learn, and now she is a fish! If I can just push her long enough (and survive it!) she is awesome at whatever she puts her heart into. Well, this day I decided she was going to ride a bike! There were lots of tears, and I was done trying. I had come to terms with the fact that she won't ever ride a bike. Chad even promised her a Kinect for the XBox if she learned! And that didn't even motivate her.
Another thing about Katelyn is she doesn't learn well from her parents...she is much better with other teachers. I asked our neighbor, who had taught his 4 kids how to do it if he would give it a try. He spent 5 minutes with her, and she was off and running! What!? Are you serious!? Sometimes it just takes someone else...plus she has to be tough in front of other people, and didn't want him to see her cry. Whatever works!
When she came back she was beaming and said, "Mom, I am so happy for me!" Tears filled both of our eyes and she gave me the biggest hug. It is the hardest thing to help Katelyn get over these hurdles in life, but also the most rewarding and emotional thing. I am so proud of her and love her so much!
