Am I crazy?

Katelyn BEGS me to watch TV ALL day long! I don't want her watching TV all day (all though it makes my life a whole lot easier), and try to get her to do other things with me. But she will just throw a fit because she wants to watch a certain movie or TV show. I am fighting with my daughter because she wants to watch TV, and I am afraid she is watching too much of it! I catch myself in this battle and ask myself, "I am arguing with her over something that will keep her entertained while I take care of Taylor, clean, etc." Am I crazy? Plus she didn't take a nap today and it has been raining for 4 days, so she is a little crazy!
Speaking of rain, it is supposed to rain even more so I thought I would share some fun indoor recipes. I decided to make Peanut Butter play dough, homemade finger paint and Knox Blox (jello squares) with Katelyn. They were all a hit and kept her entertained...
Here are the recipes for you to try:

Finger Paint:
1 C Flour
1 1/2 C salt
1 C HOT water(add more if you want it more runny)
Food coloring

Edible Play Dough:
1 C Peanut Butter
1 C Corn Syrup
1 1/4 C. Powder Sugar
1 1/4 C. Powder Milk
Mix Together and play with on wax paper

Knox Blocks:
4 envelopes Knox unflavored gelatin
3 pkgs flavored gelatin
4 C boiling water

Dissolve Knox gelatin in water. Let stand, Don't stir. Add flavored gelatin. Pour in 9X13 pan. Chill

PS. I am still waiting for you guys to comment with some good recipes for me to try:)

I have the same problem with Kylie - she wants to watch "Kylie Shows" ALL day long. And I know exactly what you mean about feeling guilty, but still being able to get things done. The only thing we can do though, is what works best for us!
I try to limit her to a little PBS in the morning so I can eat breakfast in peace, and then we have our standard Movie Time (and I've taught her how to tell when it's 4 o'clock!) so I can clean up from the day and get started on dinner... or just sit back and relax if I need to!

Here's my favorite easy recipe:
Salsa Chicken ~
sprinkle chicken breasts with taco seasoning, put the chicken in a pan and cover with salsa. bake at 375 for about 20-30 minutes. sprinkle with cheddar cheese and put back in for about another 5 mins to let the cheese melt, and voila! We eat it with Rice a Roni Mexican Style rice.

I agree with "little miss shortcake". We try and do the same thing in our house. I let the girls watch a little PBS kids in the morning, after breakfast and after they've gotten ready. Then, after Leah wakes up for a nap (usually around 3:30) we have cartoon time and the girls take turns each day picking out a movie/dvd. By the time it's done, we play for an hour or so and then it's time to start dinner. Occassionally, if they're all over me when I'm trying to eat dinner, I'll turn on a short cartoon, just until I finish my food. (I like my hot food to stay hot while I eat it. I know....Selfish right?) HA HA.... I think it helps to have a set time. Then the kids learn to know what to expect. Good luck. You have to do what's best for you. Sometimes, we have good days and sometimes we have bad days. But I try to stick to our general rule as much as possible.

We have had cabin fever lately too... and yes, lots of TV and movies. I am ready for the rain to stop. No, you're not crazy. I even have to deal with video games (a vsmile his cousin gave us) and playhousedisney.com. Sometimes I just want him to run around outside with a stick and no shoes like we use to. Anyways, good luck finding what works best for you. I like: Everything in Moderation.
