Done with Naps...AGAIN!

I know I have written this post like 5 times, but Katelyn is over napping. I guess the timing is ok, since she is starting preschool next week and won't get home until 2pm, so she won't be able to nap anyway. I just don't know how I will survive without her taking a nap! I guess I will get my break when she is in school 2 times a week...
So, fellow mothers out there...when did your child stop napping? Is Katelyn too young? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Ashlyn stopped napping right at 2 1/2 years, so kudos to you for keeping it up as long as possible. Although I've heard some kids nap until they start Kindergarten. Guess it just depends on the child.

Kylie stopped napping long before she was 3. I think I've told you before, but we do "quiet time" - I put her in a room with a timer (we do 90 minutes) and she can do whatever she wants in her room *quietly* until the timer beeps.
I think 90 mins is kinda long though - we worked our way up to it. We started at 60 mins and added 10 minutes every couple of days until we hit 90. Its long enough for me to eat my lunch in peace, shower if I haven't already, and maybe even watch part of a show!

I am working on "quiet time"...she just keeps coming out of her room...why is it we are always "working on something" with our kids!?

when I worked at a preschool they still napped the kids. what preschool is she going to? Even if she doesn't nap she will need quite time. Just keep trying

Hannah was well over 3 before she stopped napping and Chloe was 2 years 9 months when she stopped napping. I never make them have a quiet time in their room...too much of a fight. But, because they hardly ever watch T.V/moives any other time of the day, I let them (right now just Chloe because Hannah is back at school) watch a movie. This is pretty much one of the only times they watch anything throughout the day, so I consider this their quiet time.
Just try different things, and see what works for you and her (sure wish each kid came with their own manual, so we wouldn't have to go through all these guessing games!!!).

for quiet time - maybe try giving her a baggie of dry snacks to munch on while she's in there? or when kylie gets rebellious, i whip out a sticker chart and if she does a good job in quiet time for 5 days or a week (we don't really do weekends as strictly) she gets $5 for the store to buy what she pleases.
yes... bribery will get you everywhere ;)

I don't have kids but my sister is pretty much a genius! She still makes my niece (who stopped taking naps at 3 yrs old) have "quiet time" for at least an hour and a half. She has to stay in her room on her bed, she will put on a CD and she has books and she has to entertain herself the whole time. That way if she falls asleep ok cool - if not my sister still gets her time! Try it! :)
